Proportional Peace
One of the main parts of the plan is the idea of proportional peace. This idea has worked recently between the United States and Russia. (See chart left). It is clear that at least these two governments believe in the idea of proportional peace. I define proportional peace as all parties reducing their weapons, forces and any other military related items in proportion to where they are now so that no side believes that they have a perceived advantage. This allows all sides to feel safe within their borders while disarming.
What it might look like ...
What could a proportional peace solution look like? To keep the idea manageable we could use a regional approach. 7 regions broken down into percents. The goal would be to create a cohort group of children (and adults as they grow) that would make a commitment to not be a tool of war in their region. And, to make sure that one region did not become more powerful than another, 55 people from Asia, 12 people from Europe, 6 people from North America, 9 people from South America, 3 people from the Middle East and 1 person from Oceania would have to sign up and become Cohort A. Cohort A would then be taken off the ranks of war for ever. If more people sign up we would have to wait for Cohort B to be complete before they become an official cohort. Then Cohort C, D, E and so on ... Much like the Start Treaty, each country would reduce the people that can be used for war. The difference is that this time it will be in the control of people; the parents of children who want their children to experience Reason 2 Peace. The cohorts will not be added to the countless people who had died way before their time because of war.
The Commitment, the pledge, the promise!
We at Reason 2 Peace think Peace is simple. People working on making themselves, their family and community better, committing to Non Violence and telling our leaders that you can not have me or my children to kill and be killed.
Stage One
1. You need to make a commitment to improve you. To lose those things that continue to drag you down and keep you from being the person you want to be.
2. You need to make a commitment to care for those people that you come into contact with on a daily basis, no matter who they are.
3. You need to make a commitment to care for the world around you
Stage Two
1. You need to make a commitment to non-violence and be trained by local organizations in your area.
Stage Three
This the message we will send our leaders: We are working on improving ourselves, our family and the world around us. We have been trained and are committed to non-violence. Because we are "living" for our country we will no longer be used to die for our country. We will register with Reason 2 Peace and as there are people like me from all over the world we will be taken from your register of death and destruction.
This will allow your country to remain safe at a proportional rate with the rest of the world. As people register proportionally they will be removed as tools of war. Proportional Peace.
